Jea is a second-generation immigrant born in Surigao, Philippines, and raised in Illinois. He is a nurse, a lover of Hip Hop, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity at the University of Chicago. He will also serve on the inaugural Board of Directors for the Center for LGBTQ+ United Methodist Heritage. He has a passion for studying the theological and historical foundations of social justice and cultivating inclusive spaces for worshiping God and being in communion with each other. Eating different kinds of foods is one of his greatest joys. Jea lives in Hyde Park with his wife Yahi and cattle dog Biggie Smalls.
