Co-Worship Leader, Wicker Park

Steve Slagg (he/him) rejoined the UVC Wicker Park community in 2024 after formerly attending from 2013-2016. Steve grew up in rural Missouri, studied music, writing and theology at Wheaton College, and since 2011 has been living and performing in Chicago as a friendly neighborhood singer-songwriter. He writes, sings, produces and performs his own folk music, plays widely with local bands and artists as a live and session musician (usually keyboards, occasionally guitar), and accompanies improv troupes at the iO comedy theater. On Sundays when he’s not at UVC, he’s likely with his husband Brent Bailey at La Salle Street Church, where Brent is an associate pastor.
